Joint Divorces

A joint divorce allows you and your spouse to apply for divorce together, removing the need to serve documents to one another. Both parties must actively participate, sign all necessary paperwork, and maintain open communication throughout the process.

Here are the steps:

1.Confirm Joint Divorce is Right for You

This option works best when both spouses agree on all major issues—such as property division, support, and parenting arrangements—and are willing to cooperate.

2.Gather Required Documents

Together, collect essential documentation, including:

    • Your marriage certificate
    • Any existing court orders related to family matters

3.Complete Court Forms Together

You’ll need to fill out and sign the Notice of Joint Family Claim and any other required forms. These documents reflect your mutual agreement on all terms of the divorce.

4.File Your Application

Submit the completed forms to the registry, along with the applicable filing fee. Since it’s a joint filing, there’s no need to serve documents, which simplifies and speeds up the process.

5.Judicial Review and Divorce Order

A judge will review your application. If everything is properly completed and in order, the court will issue a divorce order, finalizing the process.
